The hallmark of his deanship was a focus on bringing together in a collaborative structure the sciences\, social sciences\, and humanities and fine arts.\n\nDr. Stoicheff holds an undergraduate degree in English and history (1978) from Queen's University and as master's of arts (1980) and PhD (1983) in English literature from the University of Toronto. He joined the English department as faculty member in 1986. From 2005-2010\, he was vice-dean humanities and fine arts in the College of Arts and Science.\n\nHe is highly regarded internationally for his widely published work in modern American literature and on the history and future of the book. He is the author and editor of\, and contributor to\, books on modern American poetry (The Hall of Mirrors: Drafts & Fragments and the End of Ezra Pound's Cantos\, University of Michigan Press)\, the history and future of the book (The Future of the Page\, University of Toronto Press\; The Cambridge Companion to the History of the Book\, Cambridge University Press) and literature and science (Chaos and Order: Complex Dynamics in Literature and Science\, University of Chicago Press). He has authored and edited hypertext versions of literary works\, written extensively about arts and culture\, and is a sought-after speaker.\n\nAn active scholar throughout his career\, Stoicheff has served in national and provincial leadership roles with respect to research\, scholarly and artistic work\, including serving on the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) National Committee and the SSHRC Doctoral Fellowships Committee. In his administrative and academic roles\, he was the university's SSHRC co-ordinator and oversaw creation of the U of S Digital Research Centre and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Culture and Creativity. He received the university's Graduate Supervisor Award in 2002.\n\nPeter and his wife Kathryn Warden\, director of research profile and impact at the U of S\, are longtime residents of Saskatoon and have two children\, Alixandra and Christopher.\n\nA classical guitarist and composer\, Peter has produced two acoustic guitar albums\, Cantos I and Ethereal Steel. Since 2013\, he has served on the Remai Modern Art Gallery of Saskatchewan Board of Trustees.
