DESCRIPTION:The duty to accommodate is one of the most challenging obligations placed on employers\, and specifically\, HR professionals. During this session\, we will review an employer's legal duty to take reasonable steps to adjust rules\, policies or practices to accommodate an employee's individual needs. This seminar will also provide Managers\, Supervisors\, HR professionals\, and other workplace leaders with the tools to effectively manage requests for accommodation under The Saskatchewan Human Rights Code\, 2018. This session is presented in partnership with MLT Aikins LLP. Topics In this seminar\, we will discuss the following topics: - The Legal Framework for Accommodation - Human Rights and Discrimination - What is a "Mental Disability"? - Duty to Accommodate - Undue Hardship - An Employer's Right to Seek Medical Information - Accommodation and Discipline - Duty to Accommodate Myths - Practical Tips for Accommodation in the Workplace Learning Objectives By the end of this session\, attendees will be able to: - Critically evaluate their organization's accommodation framework based upon key legal principle - Understand accommodation principles in the workplace - Effectively review disability accommodation requests and manage medical information throughout the accommodation process - Avoid common pitfalls and potential liability Continuing Professional Development (CPD): 2.0 CPD Hours
