Colour can be manipulated and controlled in many subtle ways to alter and enhance a composition. In this workshop, Hauser will explain how to use colour theories in a practical and easily-applied method. The workshop will begin with a demonstration of the theories in action, and then students will be guided in the exploration of the possibilities in a few exercises. Hauser will also introduce the use of dual colour wheels – one for colour mixing, and one for juxtaposing colour. Students will then apply these principles to work of their own choosing.
Materials:
There is no specific material list for this workshop, as it is suitable for any medium that uses colour, including craft-based work. Because participants will be experimenting with colour effects, they may want to bring several small pieces with which to play. Participants are also welcome to bring previous work that has compositional problems for a critique on how they can improve them by the application of colour theory.
