PA@5 Matthew Mirasty
Joining us virtually for PA@5 on December 10th, Matthew Mirasty is a Program Coordinator for the Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety. His Role as an Indigenous Policing Program Coordinator is to participate in developing, coordinating, presenting and facilitating the delivery of Community Police Board (CPB) Board Governance training for 35 Northern Communities identified in the New North Framework Agreement and 33 Community Tripartite Agreements and their respective Community Consultative Groups(CCG’s). This includes working with stakeholders such as New North, First Nations, Public Safety Canada, the RCMP and individual CPBs and CCGs to establish specific training needs depending on their state of readiness and abilities.
Prior to this role, Matthew was in law enforcement for 13 years as a member of the RCMP. Since then he developed a specialty in alternative dispute resolution and does advocacy work in the field of Mental Health and Addictions, particularly for First Responders and their families. He is originally from La Ronge, however he and his family now call Prince Albert home. In his spare time he enjoys Cross Country Skiing with his kids and other outdoor activities.
